昨日、10月22日は京都は“時代祭”でした。
時代祭は葵祭・祇園祭と並ぶ、京都三大祭のひとつで、
明治維新から延暦時代に遡り、各時代の衣裳や道具等を纏った人々の行列
を見る事が出来るお祭りです。
8つの時代の行列を再現するため、約2000人が参加するそうなのですが、
私の祖父も実はその中の１人。

残念ながら、東京にいる私は祖父の雄姿を見る事は出来ませんでしたが、
両親より写真が届きました。

約100年続くお祭りに家族が参加しているというのは不思議なものですが、
今後もこのような歴史を感じられるお祭りがずっと続くといいですね。

Yesterday, October 22nd, “Jidai Matsuri” had been held in Kyoto.
“Jidai Matsuri” is one of the Kyoto’s Three Big Festival (Aoi Matsuri and Gion Matsuri are the other two),
And it is a festival that you could see parade of people who wears outfits and equipments of eras from the Meiji Restoration to Enryaku.
As to recreate the parade of 8 eras, about 2,000 people participate in festival and my grandfather was one of the participants.

Unfortunately, I was in Tokyo so I couldn’t see my grandfather’s glory, but my parents sent me some photos.

I have a strange feeling of my family participating in such historical festival,
But I hope these traditional festivals last forever.
