花嫁衣裳 ～お小物のご紹介～
花嫁衣裳には、
白無垢や色打掛・引振袖といったお着物だけでなく、
身につけるお小物があることをご存知ですか？
実は、お小物一つひとつには意味が込められています。
本日はその花嫁さまの身につけるお小物3つについてご紹介いたします。
〜筥迫〜
昔は紅や鏡などの化粧道具を入れていました。
所説ありますが、
「夫の前でいつまでも綺麗でいられるように」
という意味があるといわれています。
〜懐剣〜
昔は中に短刀が入れられていました。
武家の女性が
身を守るためにつけたことが始まりといわれ
嫁ぐときの「強い覚悟」をあらわしています。
〜末広〜
花嫁さまがもつ扇子です。
名前の通り「末広がり」にひらいていく様子から、
縁起物とされています。

WEDDING COSTUME “ACCESSORIES”
Do you know there are small accessories called “okomono (small items)” to be worn as a part of the traditional wedding costumes like “Iro-uchikake” or “Hiki-furisode”?
Actually, each one of these small item has a reason to wear.
I’m going to explain three “okomono” for the bride today.
“Hakoseko”
A small purse once used to put the lip color and the mirror in it.
It is said to represent the bride’s wish “always to be beautiful for her husband”.
“Kaiken”
There used to be a real knife inside.
It is said that women in Samurai family started wearing them to protect themselves.
It shows the “strong determination” of a bride.
“Suehiro”
A fan for the bride.
It is believed as an auspicious accessory because of its shape that spreads widely.
Every single one of “okomono” stands for the particular thought.
These are the items representing the modest beauty of Japanese women and only for the brides.
